The ISAO SO was selected to facilitate the implementation of Presidential Executive Order 13691 in October 2015. The ISAO SO is developing cybersecurity sharing standards, guidelines and best practices using an open and transparent consensus-driven standards development process.
“The goal of the ISAO SO is to identify a common set of voluntary standards for the creation and functioning of information sharing and analysis organizations,” said Dr. Gregory B. White, Executive Director, ISAO SO. “To ensure that these standards are applicable to different types of organizations, it’s critical that we receive public input from a broad representation of industries and sectors.”
After considering the latest round of public comments, some working groups of the ISAO SO will publish another set of drafts on Monday, July 18, with public comments due by Friday, Aug. 5. The organization is also hosting its fourth open forum on Thursday, Sept. 1, in Tysons, VA. The forum, which is open to the general public, is designed as another opportunity for individuals to provide feedback on the draft product releases. The last forum, held May 19 in Anaheim, CA, attracted more than 100 attendees from multiple industry sectors, government and academia.
“Opportunities for public comment on our website and during our public forum are part of our deliberate strategy to engage the public in the development of the standards,” said Richard Lipsey, Deputy Director, ISAO SO. “Public input is an essential part of the standards development process and we appreciate the helpful feedback we’ve received from various experts that will help the ISAO SO produce a more robust and relevant set of standards, guidelines and best practices.”
