International Telecommnications Union — Telecommunications (ITU-T) Standarization
The International Telecommunication Union is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for issues that concern information and communication technologies. The Study Groups of ITU’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector assembles global experts to produce international standards known as ITU-T Recommendations which act as defining elements in the global infrastructure of information and communication technologies (ICTs).
Recommendation X.1205
Recommendation ITU-T X.1205 provides a definition for cybersecurity and taxonomy of security threats from an organization point of view. Cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities including the most common hacker’s tools are presented and threats are discussed at various network layers. Risk management strategies and techniques are presented including the value of training and education in protecting the network.
