David Turetsky Inducted into the Information Sharing Hall of Fame

David TuretskyDavid Turetsky, a professor of practice at the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity at the University at Albany, has been recognized as an Information Sharing Hall of Fame Award Winner for being identified as a notable leader and visionary based upon his leadership in advancing, growing and shaping the information sharing community.

The ISAO Standards Organization (SO) award ceremony for the 4th Annual Information Sharing Hall of Fame Awards was held virtually on Wednesday, September 30 at the 2020 International Information Sharing Conference. These awards recognize those individuals and organizations who have demonstrated the highest standards of professional competence and have contributed significantly to the promotion of the information sharing ecosystem.

“Information sharing is a crucial tool to improve cybersecurity, so this recognition is a real honor,” said Turetsky. “Having had the opportunity to work closely with the community of Information Sharing and Analysis Centers, Information Sharing and Analysis Organizations (ISAOs), the ISAO SO and the government over the years, I very much appreciate the important work they do. Being recognized by a community doing such important work is special to me.”

Information Sharing Hall of Fame Award winners are nominated by their peers in the information sharing ecosystem.

“Not only has David been actively engaged in the ISAO ecosystem for over a decade, but he continues to take an active role as a working group co-chair to produce ISAO SO documents that provide guidance to new and emerging ISAOs. This award is well deserved,” said Dr. Greg White, executive director of the ISAO SO.

Turetsky was nominated, in part, for his positive attitude and continuous efforts to actively engage the information sharing community, and hard work in improving the cybersecurity posture across the Nation.

“Coming earlier from the discipline of antitrust law, I knew when information sharing was a problem and when it was a tool to produce real benefits. Cybersecurity information sharing is about the right information, shared in the right way, to accomplish an end that could not be achieved by one organization acting alone,” added Turetsky. “The information sharing tools and pace are improving and will continue to do so.”
